Modern Slavery Statement for Paddington Man and Van
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the actions taken by Paddington Man and Van to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. We recognise our responsibility to uphold human rights, protect vulnerable people, and promote fair and safe working practices across all aspects of our business.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Paddington Man and Van operates a strict zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, human trafficking, forced or compulsory labour, and child labour. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business dealings and relationships. We expect the same high standards from all our employees, contractors, agency workers, and suppliers.
We do not knowingly engage with any organisation or individual involved in modern slavery. Where credible concerns are identified, we will investigate promptly and take appropriate action, which may include suspending or terminating business relationships.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Paddington Man and Van provides local and regional moving, transport, and related services. Our supply chains primarily include suppliers of vehicles, fuel, equipment, uniforms, storage facilities, cleaning and maintenance services, and recruitment and labour agencies.
We recognise that certain areas of our supply chain, particularly labour provision and outsourced services, may present a higher risk of labour exploitation. We therefore pay particular attention to these areas when assessing and managing modern slavery risks.
Supplier Standards and Due Diligence
We expect all suppliers to share our commitment to preventing modern slavery and to comply with all applicable labour, employment, and human rights laws. When entering into new relationships, we carry out proportionate due diligence to understand suppliers’ working practices and their own supply chains.
Our expectations include fair pay, safe working conditions, lawful working hours, voluntary employment, and non-discriminatory practices. We reserve the right to request information and evidence from suppliers to demonstrate compliance with these standards.
Supplier Audits and Monitoring
Paddington Man and Van undertakes supplier audits and reviews as part of our ongoing monitoring of modern slavery risks. Audits may include site visits, documentation checks, and structured discussions with management and, where appropriate, workers.
We prioritise audits for higher-risk suppliers, including labour providers and outsourced service contractors. Where issues are identified, we will work with the supplier to agree corrective actions and timeframes. If satisfactory improvements are not made, we may review the continuation of the relationship.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
We encourage all employees, workers, suppliers, and other stakeholders to report any concerns related to modern slavery or unethical labour practices in our operations or supply chains. Reports can be made to line managers or senior management, or through established internal reporting channels and grievance procedures.
All concerns will be treated seriously and, where possible, confidentially. We will investigate reports promptly, ensure that issues are addressed, and take steps to protect any person raising concerns from retaliation or victimisation, in line with our whistleblowing principles.
Training and Awareness
We provide appropriate training and guidance to relevant employees, particularly those involved in procurement, supplier management, and recruitment. Training covers the signs of modern slavery, how to raise concerns, and our expectations of suppliers and contractors.
We also communicate our zero-tolerance stance on modern slavery during onboarding and through internal communications, to ensure that our workforce understands their role in identifying and preventing exploitation.
Annual Review and Continuous Improvement
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed at least annually to ensure it remains effective, relevant, and aligned with legal requirements and best practice. During the review, we assess our actions over the preceding year, examine any incidents or concerns raised, and identify opportunities for improvement.
We are committed to continuously improving our processes, strengthening supplier oversight, and enhancing training and awareness initiatives to reduce the risk of modern slavery across our business and supply chains.
Approval and Responsibility
This statement has been approved by the senior leadership of Paddington Man and Van, who retain overall responsibility for ensuring that our policies and practices are effectively implemented and regularly reviewed. Management at all levels is responsible for promoting a culture of ethical conduct and supporting the prevention of modern slavery in our operations and relationships.
